FUKUOKA 87
1987, March 16th, Shimin Kaikan, Fukuoka, Japan

CD1: 1.Intro - 2.A View To a Kill - 3.Notorious - 4.American Science - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.Vertigo - 7.New Religion - 8.Meet el Presidente - 9.Election Day - 10.Some Like It Hot
CD2: 1.Skin Trade - 2.A Matter Of Feeling - 3.The Chauffeur - 4.Save A Prayer - 5.Hold Me - 6.Is There Something I Should Know? - 7.Hungry Like The Wolf - 8.The Wild Boys - 9.The Reflex

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT AUDIENCE (au10)
Notes: This is the first ever "Strange Behaviour Tour" show. This boot is a worth having piece of work for its historical value, its great audio quality, and its slightly different setlist. In fact "Skin Trade" is performed after "Some Like It Hot" and before the beautiful "A Matter Of Feeling". The rest of the tracklist is the same as every "Strange Behaviour Tour" concert. The performance is very good, there are some little no technical problems because this is the first show of the tour. Simon sings passionately throughout the show, especially "Save A Prayer" where his vocal performance is outstanding.

THAT FATAL KISS
1987, March 22nd, Korakuen Stadium, Tokyo, Japan

CD1: 1.A View To A Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.Singin' In The Rain - 4.Save A Prayer - 5.Skin Trade - 6.Hungry Like The Wolf - 7.The Wild Boys - 8.The Reflex
CD2 - BONUS CD - Andy Taylor live in Tokyo July 08th 1987: 1.I'm Tremblin' - 2.You Really Got Me - 3.Broken Window - 4.When The Rain Comes Down - 5.I Might Lie - 6.Take It Easy - 7.Hound Dog - 8.Whole Lotta Shakin' - 9.Get It On

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This bootleg was released in the eighties in a double LP set, called "Duran Duran VS Andy Taylor - That Fatal Kiss live in Japan 87". The Duran Duran part of this recording is taken from their fifth "Strange Behaviour Tour" concert. The performance is good and funny, because Simon has some difficulties singing the right lyrics at the right moment. This is mostly noticeable at the end of "A View To A Kill" and at the beginning of "Notorious". It was raining cats and dogs that night, so Simon sings a line of the classic "Singin' In The Rain" and thanks the crowd for being there. The setlist is not complete, but I highly recommend this bootleg.

BRUXELLES 87
1987, March 31st, Forest National, Bruxelles, Belgium

CD1: 1.Intro - 2.A View To a Kill - 3.Notorious - 4.American Science - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.Vertigo - 7.New Religion - 8.Meet el Presidente - 9.Election Day - 10.Some Like It Hot - 11.A Matter Of Feeling
CD2: 1.The Chauffeur - 2.Save A Prayer - 3.Skin Trade - 4.Hold Me - 5.Is There Something I Should Know? - 6.Hungry Like The Wolf - 7.The Reflex - 8.The Wild Boys - 9.Outro

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au9)
Notes: This is the third Strange Behaviour 87 show in Europe. The guys played two gigs in Bruxelles that year, and thi is the second one. This performance took place five years after the first and last Duran Duran performance in Belgium (October 13 1982 - Deinze). The show is great and very well recorded (unfortunately, my copy has two seconds gaps in beetween tracks - until I get fixed them!). The tracklist is complete, and you also find here the "outro", that could be a good reason to get this cd, if you was at any 87 show and you remember that music. My favourite song on this cd is "A Matter Of Feeling", that is very well performed by both Simon and Warren (great guitar! very sweet). The two encores are performed in a different order than the usual one: tonight "The Reflex" is the first encore, and "The Wild Boys" is the last song of the show.

PARIS 87
1987, April 03rd, Bercy, Paris, France

1.Notorious - 2.American Science - 3.Union Of The Snake - 4.Vertigo - 5.New Religion - 6.Meet el Presidente - 7.Election Day - 8.Some Like It Hot - 9.A Matter Of Feeling - 10.The Chauffeur - 11.Save A Prayer - 12.Skin Trade - 13.Hold Me - 14.Is There Something I Should Know?

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au8/9)
Notes: This is a good audience recording of the Paris show. It was broadcasted on a small Italian radio, and you can hear the DJ speaking for just 2 seconds during "Skin Trade", which at the time was the current single. Apart form that, you can't believe this is a radio broadcast, since the quality isn't soundboard, and because the DJ shuts up his mouth during all songs. The show is incomplete, though and the missing tracks are: "A View To A Kill" at the beginning; "Hungry Like The Wolf" at the end and the two encores "The Wild Boys" and "The Reflex".

BELFAST 87
1987, April 23rd, King's Hall, Belfast, North Ireland

CD1: 1.A View To a Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Some Like It Hot
CD2: 1.A Matter Of Feeling - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Skin Trade - 5.Hold Me - 6.Is There Something I Should Know? - 7.Hungry Like The Wolf - 8.The Wild Boys - 9.The Reflex

Audio Quality: GOOD AUDIENCE (au8)
Notes: This is a famous bootlegs, floating around since the eighties. I think that the original source had a great sound (maybe this was the reason of its massive circulation); the cd copy has a (just) good audience quality, because it was probably recorded off a multigenerational tape, so the bass frequencies have some distortions. Anyway, the sound is not too bad, really! The setlist is complete and it's the usual one... no strange behaviour tonight ;-)

LEEDS 87
1987, April 25th, Queens Hall, Leeds, UK

1.A View to A Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Is There Something I Should Know? - 10.Hungry Like The Wolf - 11.The Wild Boys - 12.Ferrone's Birthday - 13.The Reflex

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au9)
Notes: A very good recording for the Leeds show. The setlist is not complete, but we are lucky enough to have here Simon singing "Happy Birthday" to Steve Ferrone! It seems that the guys were really excited that night; "The Reflex" is my favourite song on this cd.

FREJUS 87
1987, May 02nd, Les Arenes, Frejus, France

CD1: 1.Intro - 2.A View To a Kill - 3.Notorious - 4.American Science - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.Vertigo - 7.New Religion - 8.Meet el Presidente - 9.Election Day - 10.Some Like It Hot - 11.A Matter Of Feeling - 12.The Chauffeur
CD2: 1.Save A Prayer - 2.Skin Trade - 3.Hold Me - 4.Is There Something I Should Know? - 5.Hungry Like The Wolf - 6.The Wild Boys - 7.The Reflex

Audio Quality: GOOD AUDIENCE (au8/9)
Notes: The full Frejus show is here. You can hear Simon speaking in French to the audience from time to time, and you have the chance to listen to the beautiful echo effects of "A Matter Of Feeling", which are not in the soundboard bootlegs (such as "Live In Rio"). If you already have the soundboard bootlegs of the "Strange Behaviour Tour", this CD should be your next choice.

DURAN GOES DUTCH... & other strange behaviours
1987, May 07th, Ahoy, Rotterdam, Holland

1.Notorious - 2.Vertigo - 3.New Religion - 4.Hungry Like The Wolf - 5.American Science
BONUS TRACKS: 6.Save A Prayer (Secret Policeman's Third Ball) - 7.Election Day (live on San Francisco 87) - 8.The Wild Boys (live on Tube 87)

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: And here is the famous "Duran Goes Dutch" EP. It was released as a promo vinyl, and as bonus CD on a Japanese limited edition of the "Big Thing" CD album. I had the chance to listen to my audience recording of the Rotterdam show, and I believe that "Duran Goes Dutch" was not really recorded during that show... but I'm not sure about it. I would need to hear other people's opinion on that topic. Can anyone help me? Anyway, the songs are very well performed, and "Vertigo" is my favourite. This CD also features three nice BONUS TRACKS: the excellent "Save A Prayer" from the "Secret Policeman's Third Ball" benefit show, "Election Day" from the San Francisco part of "Dance Into The Fire", and "The Wild Boys" from the TV live performance the guys made for "The Tube".

ROTTERDAM 87
1987, May 07th, Ahoy, Rotterdam, Holland

CD1: 1.Intro/A View To a Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.The Chauffeur - 10.Some Like It Hot - 11.A Matter Of Feeling
CD2: 1.Save A Prayer - 2.Skin Trade - 3.Hold Me - 4.Is There Something I Should Know? - 5.Hungry Like The Wolf - 6.The Wild Boys - 7.The Reflex

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT AUDIENCE (au10 or sb8)
Notes: This should be a famous show, because every collector knows that the "Duran Goes Dutch" bootleg was recorded tonight... but I think that this is not true (please read my "Duran Goes Dutch" review). So, even if you already have that bootleg, getting this double cd you will listen to a completely new show, in excellent audience recording (or fairly good soundboard? who knows?). The setlist is complete, and has something different, because "The Chauffeur" is played after "Election Day" and before "Some Like It Hot": they never made something like that during the Strange Behaviour Tour! The performance is excellent, with the highlights in "Save A Prayer", "Hold Me" and "New Religion".

THE FINEST HOUR
1987, May 17th, The Empire Ballroom, London, UK

1.A View To A Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Skin Trade - 10.Is There Something I Should Know? - 11.Hungry Like The Wolf - 12.The Wild Boys - 13.The Reflex - 14.Some Like It Hot

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD SOUNDBOARD (sb9)
Notes: One of the most famous bootlegs from the Strange Behaviour Tour, released in vinyl in the eighties. The atmosphere was very informal, Simon started the show saying: "I'm sorry for the delay, but Nick missed his bus" :-) The tracklist is incomplete, but it's hard to tell whether they didn't play the missing songs (which were "A Matter Of Feeling", "The Chauffeur", "Save A Prayer" and "Hold Me"), or the songs themselves simply aren't in that bootleg. I've heard of a London May 17th recording that should include "The Chauffeur", but I haven't had the chance to listen to this CD, so I can't tell you if this is the same show or another one the guys played the same night. This is possible, because "The Finest Hour" is a "late show" recording. Anyway, I should have the chance to talk to the person that made the original vinyl bootleg: maybe he can remember!

WEMBLEY 87
1987, May 20th, Wembley Arena, London, UK

CD1: 1.A View To a Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Some Like It Hot - 10.A Matter Of Feeling
CD2: 1.The Chauffeur - 2.Save A Prayer - 3.Skin Trade - 4.Hold Me - 5.Is There Something I Should Know? - 6.Hungry Like The Wolf - 7.The Reflex - 8.The Wild Boys

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au9)

PALERMO 87
1987, May 28th, Stadio La Favorita, Palermo, Italy

CD1: 1.A View To a Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Some Like It Hot - 10.A Matter Of Feeling
CD2: 1.The Chauffeur Intro - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Skin Trade - 5.Hold Me - 6.Is There Something I Should Know? - 7.Hungry Like The Wolf - 8.The Wild Boys - 9.The Reflex

Audio Quality: FAIR AUDIENCE (au7)
Notes: The first ever Duran Duran concert in Italy. At the time, the band was the greatest mass-media affair in Italy; the 98% of the italian students knew who was Simon Le Bon! So, the Duran Duran tour was the most important pop tour that summer. This cd contains the full recording of the show that they performed in Palermo; all the Strange Behaviour Tour songs and lots of italian girls screams are here. Due to his historical value, this is an important cd, even if the audio quality is not excellent.

ROME 87
1987, June 01st, Stadio Flaminio, Rome, Italy

CD1: 1.Intro - 2.A View To a Kill - 3.Notorious - 4.American Science - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.Vertigo - 7.New Religion - 8.Meet el Presidente - 9.Election Day - 10.Some Like It Hot - 11.A Matter Of Feeling - 12.Intro The Chauffeur
CD2: 1.Intro The Chauffeur - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Blues - 5.Skin Trade - 6.Hold Me - 7.Is There Something I Should Know? - 8.Hungry Like The Wolf - 9.The Wild Boys - 10.The Reflex

Audio Quality: FAIR AUDIENCE (au7)
Notes: The first ever Duran Duran show in my own living town, in front of an audience of 40,000 people! It was long time ago, I was only fourteen, but I clearly remember my first Duran Duran concert. The show was really great, and the crowd very excited; the most important moment was "Save A Prayer", when all the people sung along with Simon the chorus "Don't say a prayer for me now, save it 'til the morning after". Some video shots of this concert are today available, if you are able to find the video recording of an italian TV broadcast (called "Be Bop A Lula" - by Red Ronnie). The special shows the guys in their own private moments (in hotel, backstages and so on) and clips of all the 87 italian live shows. A private video recording of the full show is also available, but the camera is far from the stage, so the quality is not very good.

FIRENZE 87
1987, June 07th, Stadio Comunale, Firenze, Italy

CD1: 1.Intro - 2.A View To a Kill - 3.Notorious - 4.American Science - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.Vertigo - 7.New Religion - 8.Meet el Presidente - 9.Election Day - 10.Some Like It Hot - 11.A Matter Of Feeling
CD2: 1.Intro The Chauffeur - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Skin Trade - 5.Hold Me - 6.Is There Something I Should Know? - 7.Hungry Like The Wolf - 8.The Wild Boys - 9.The Reflex

Audio Quality: FAIR AUDIENCE (au6/7)
Notes: This is the last italian show of the 87 tour. The performance is good, and "The Reflex" is performed in a reggae way! After the concert the guys celebrate the end of the italian tour with lots of fireworks; then, Nick celebrate his birthday (that was the day after) with the rest of the band at "Capriccio".

CHARLOTTE 87
1987, July 15th, Charlotte Coliseum, Charlotte NC, USA

CD1: 1.A View To a Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Some Like It Hot - 10.A Matter Of Feeling - 11.The Chauffeur - 12.Save a Prayer
CD2: 1.Skin Trade - 2.Hold Me - 3.Is There Something I Should Know? - 4.Hungry Like The Wolf - 5.The Wild Boys - 6.The Reflex

Audio Quality: FAIR AUDIENCE (au7)
Notes: This is a rare "Strange Behaviour Tour" recording. The audio quality is very low, and the highlight is the reggae version of "The Reflex"... If you are a completist, this is a nice choice; if you are looking for excellent audio CDs, you should get "Dance Into The Fire" for this reggae version of "The Reflex".

DANCE INTO THE FIRE
1987, July 28th and 31st, San Francisco and San Diego CA, USA

CD1 (Shoreline Amphitheatre, San Francisco CA, July 31st): 1.A View To A Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Some Like It Hot
CD2 (Sports Arena, San Diego CA, July 28th): 1.The Chauffeur - 2.Save A Prayer - 3.Skin Trade - 4.Hold Me - 5.Is There Something I Should Know? - 6.Hungry Like The Wolf - 7.The Wild Boys - 8.If She Knew What She Wants (with the Bangles) - 9.The Reflex (different version)

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10) -mono-
Notes: With an excellent audio quality, this is probably the best bootleg of the 87 Strange Behaviour Tour. It was released in 1994 by Midnight Beat, Luxembourg. The tracklist is particular: "A Matter Of Feeling" is missing, but there are a duet with the Bangles, as well as a rare reggae version of "The Reflex". The disc one is recorded in San Francisco and the disc two in San Diego. These two concerts have been recorded in audio and video to create an official video of the "Strange Behaviour Tour". Actually, the "Working For The Skin Trade" video is edited from these two shows.

WORKING FOR THE SKIN TRADE
1987, July 28th and 31st, San Francisco and San Diego CA, USA

1.Intro - 2.A View to A Kill - 3.Notorious - 4.New Religion - 5.Vertigo - 6.The Chauffeur - 7.Save A Prayer - 8.Skin Trade - 9.Hungry Like The Wolf - 10.The Wild Boys

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: Directly taken from the official video and in excellent audio quality, this CD has a nice intro with Brazilian rhythms, which is not present in the rest of the 87 bootlegs. The songs are taken from the San Francisco and San Diego concerts, and a small noticeable thing is that the "New Religion" John's spoken intro is shorter than the "Dance Into The Fire" version. If you already have the video version, or if you have the "Dance Into The Fire" bootleg, you don't need this CD because you won't find anything new here.

DURAN AT BEACON
1987, August 31st, Beacon Theatre, New York NY, USA

1.Intro - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.New Religion - 6.Meet el Presidente - 7.Skin Trade - 8.Hold Me - 9.Is There Something I Should Know? - 10.SWEET JANE (with Lou Reed) - 11.Hungry Like The Wolf

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD SOUNDBOARD (sb9)
Notes: This is the master for a radio broadcast, without the spoken parts and the commercials. I also have the broadcasted version, but the audio quality of this CD is better. This recording was released in the eighties in a vinyl bootleg called "Live at Madison Square Garden", but was actually recorded at the Beacon Theatre. According to John, this was the 100th show of the "Strange Behaviour Tour", and the guys thought it was the LAST show of this tour. (They were wrong, since four months later, the band played three more gigs in South America: the first of which was "Live In Rio"). This Beacon CD is not complete, because the broadcast was edited in one hour show; Lou Reed appeared as special guest on "Sweet Jane", playing lead guitar and singing lead vocals. During that performance, Simon sang the backing vocals, and Warren played the solo. The show has a great energy and you can hear this energy during the long powerful version of "Hold Me", which contains the band introduction.

LIVE IN RIO
1988, January 08th, Praca Da Apoteose, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

CD1: 1.A View To a Kill - 2.Notorious - 3.American Science - 4.Union Of The Snake - 5.Vertigo - 6.New Religion - 7.Meet el Presidente - 8.Election Day - 9.Some Like It Hot - 10.A Matter Of Feeling - 11.The Chauffeur - 12.Save a Prayer - 13.Skin Trade Intro - 14.Skin Trade
CD2: 1.Hold Me - 2. Is There Something I Should Know? - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.The Wild Boys - 5.The Reflex/RIO (this is the only Strange Behaviour tour where they played RIO!)
BONUS TRACKS: 6.Vertigo (mantronix mix) - 7.Skin Trade (sos dub) - 8.American Science (meltdown dub) - 9.Vertigo (b-boy mix) 10.Notoriousaurus Rex - 11.Hidden Track

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: Early in 1988, Duran Duran perform 3 shows in South America. This is the first of them. This recording is a Big Beat release, and is directly taken from the mixing desk for the best possible stereo recording. An additional audience feed has been mixed into the recording to make the listener believe they are "really there!" The setlist is complete, and contains Rio, performed in this show for the first and last time during the "Strange Behaviour Tour". ABOUT THE EXCELLENT BONUS TRACKS: if you had been in Brazil in January 1988 (and who knows, perhaps you had) you could have purchased a special tour EP of Master Mixes. The band "wanted to reclaim the dance floor," says Capitol E&R director Tim Carr. Because of tight schedules, the trio decided to farm out several assignments at once, choosing consultants based on sample reels compiled by Carr. Remixes including the already released "Notorious" re-edited by the Latin Rascals, two versions of "Skin Trade" by Larry Levan and Daniel Abraham, and a Mark Berry's version of "Meet El Presidente," edited by Omar Santana and Carlos Berrios. In the can are "Vertigo (Do The Demolition)," remixed by Mantronik, who opened for Duran in Europe, and "American Science," remixed by Justin Strauss and Murry Elias and edited by Chep Nunez. Finished but lost in a Federal Express mishap was the record-setting piece - a megamix of all the foregoing, done by Prime Cuts' Tuta Aquino. It goes from 92 beats per minute to 124 and it's an amazing glossary of editing styles. Presented here for the first time is the original "lost" megamix including portions of Duran Duran's "Proposition" and a collection of remixes and dubs from the original Master Mixes.
