PRINCE'S TRUST ROCK GALA
1983, July 20th, Dominion Theatre, London, UK

1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.Union Of The Snake - 4.New Religion - 5.Save A Prayer - 6.Rio - 7.Planet Earth - 8.My Own Way - 9.Careless Memories - 10.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: GOOD SOUNDBOARD (sb8) or EXCELLENT AUDIENCE (au10)
Notes: A HISTORICAL show, and a highly recommended bootleg. This is the famous show attended by Prince Charles and Lady Diana. This was the first time the band played live, after the end of the "Rio Tour", and for a very important occasion: the Prince's Trust Royal Rock Gala. At that time, their single "Is There Something I Should Know?" had entered the UK charts directly at number one, and this was the first time they ever played this song live on stage. Another interesting part of the boot is the earliest live version of "Union Of The Snake". In fact the guys were working on their next album, "Seven And The Ragged Tiger", and gave the crowd the chance to hear one of their new songs. And three days later, they played another pre-album show in their hometown.

FOOTBALL GROUND
1983, July 23rd, Aston Villa Football Ground, Birmingham, UK

CD1:
1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.Union Of The Snake - 4.Lonely In Your Nightmare - 5.New Religion - 6.Night Boat - 7.Friends Of Mine - 8.Save A Prayer
CD2: 1.Planet Earth - 2.My Own Way - 3.Hold Back The Rain - 4.Careless Memories - 5.Rio - 6.Funtime - 7.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: FAIRLY GOOD AUDIENCE (au7/8)
Notes: Despite of its non-excellent audio quality, I highly recommend this bootleg; this is the full recording of the second (and last) UK show that the guys played before the "Seven And The Ragged Tiger" album release, so the tracklist is very similar to the Sing Blue Silver Tour shows, but there are some important differences: all the Tiger songs are missing tonight (except of "Union Of The Snake", performed for the second time - the first ever was during the Prince Trust show) and the guys played some Duran Duran and Rio songs, that are performed here for the LAST time: they never played again "Hold Back The Rain"; this is the last Duran Duran live performance of "Night Boat" - Simon Le Bon sung that song in 98, appearing as special guest in a Smashing Pumpkins live show. "Lonely In Your Nightmare" is missing from the setlists until 2001, when the band finally played it in USA, during some "Up Close Tour" show. Furthermore, this Birmingham bootleg is really interesting for the inclusion of a good performance of "Funtime", the Iggy Pop classic. The guys never recorded this cover in studio, so this is the only chance you have to listen to this rare performance.

AUSTRALIA 83
1983, November 19th, Festival Hall, Brisbane, Australia

CD1:
1.Tiger Tiger/Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.The Reflex - 4.New Moon On Monday - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.New Religion - 7.Cracks In The Pavement - 8.My Own Way - 9.Friends Of Mine
CD2: 1.The Seventh Stranger - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Planet Earth - 5.Of Crime And Passion - 6.Careless Memories - 7.Rio - 8.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: FAIR AUDIENCE (au7)
Notes: After two gigs in UK (London and Birmingham), the guys flied in Australia, where they completed their new album "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" and filmed the video clip for the "Union Of The Snake" single. So, their Sing Blue Silver World Tour starts from Canberra on November, 12nd. The band spent in Australia 15 days, playing 8 shows in 6 different towns. They played in Camberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. This is the full audience recording of the first of two shows that they played in Brisbane. The tracklist is really interesting, because during the first period of the 83-84 tour, "My Own Way" was performed on the middle of the show, before "Friends Of Mine", and "Of Crime And Passion" is played near to the end of the show. "Girls On Film" is not complete. A good cd.

LEEDS 83
1983, December 11th, Queens Hall, Leeds, UK

CD1: 1.Tiger Tiger/Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.The Reflex - 4.New Moon On Monday - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.New Religion - 7.Cracks In The Pavement - 8.My Own Way - 9.Friends Of Mine
CD2: 1.The Seventh Stranger - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Planet Earth - 5.Of Crime And Passion - 6.Careless Memories - 7.Rio - 8.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: GOOD SOUNDBOARD (sb8/9)
Notes: In December, the guys came back to the UK. They played a couple of shows in Leeds, and this is the full soundboard recording of the second show (the first was on December 08th). The performance is good, and I particularly like "Union Of The Snake", "My Own Way", "Friends Of Mine" and "The Seventh Stranger". "Careless Memories" is also very powerful, and you can clearly hear the Andy's guitar riffs... GREAT!

BRIGHTON 83
1983, December 16th, The Centre, Brighton, UK

CD1: 1.Tiger Tiger/Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.The Reflex - 4.New Moon On Monday - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.Cracks In The Pavement - 7.My Own Way - 8.Friends Of Mine - 9.The Seventh Stranger
CD2: 1.Save A Prayer - 2.Planet Earth - 3.Of Crime And Passion - 4.Careless Memories - 5.Rio - 6.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: GOOD SOUNDBOARD (sb8)
Notes: This is a good soundboard recording of the second of two concerts in Brighton, UK. A must-to-own show: the performance is very good, and the tracklist is different from the usual one: "New Religion" and "The Chauffeur" are missing; "My Own Way" and "Of Crime And Passion" are performed in the same places that they had during the australian tour; this is the last show that presents this kind of setlist: from December 18th, the first of five Wembley shows, the guys performed the songs in the same order than the setlists of the USA 84 tour (where the most known bootlegs of that era - Oakland and Madison Square Garden - were recorded).

WEMBLEY 83
1983, December 20th, Wembley Arena, London, UK

CD1: 1.Tiger Tiger/Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.The Reflex - 4.New Moon On Monday - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.New Religion - 7.Cracks In The Pavement - 8.Of Crime And Passion - 9.Friends Of Mine - 10.The Seventh Stranger - 11.The Chauffeur
CD2: 1.Save A Prayer - 2.Planet Earth - 3.My Own Way - 4.Careless Memories - 5.Rio - 6.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: FAIRLY GOOD SOUNDBOARD (sb7)
Notes: The guys played five great shows at the Wembley Arena in December 1983; this is the full recording of the third of them, and it's the only one that is available today; actually, I've seen somewhere a bootleg that could be the recording of the fifth show at Wembley in 83, but I'm not sure if it's the real fifth show, or just a mislabelled copy of the show that I'm listing here. Anyway, this bootleg is very important, because every great Duran Duran tour had a Wembley concert, and these five 83 shows are the first time that this happened. This cd includes the full recording of the gig, with the usual setlist and in a fairly good soundboard quality; I think that somewhere it exsists a very good quality recording, and that the cd I'm listing here is a multigenerational copy of that original tape: actually, I'm sure that my cd is a soundboard recording... but I don't know from where it originated, because the Wembley show was never broadcasted on radio; maybe someone in the crew recorded the original bootleg from the mixing desk, and sent copies of that tape to fans all over the world; the cd that we can get today, so, is taken off a multigenerational copy of the first recording.

OSAKA 84
1984, January 23rd, Castle Sport Center, Osaka, Japan

CD1: 1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.The Reflex - 4.New Moon On Monday - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.New Religion - 7.Cracks In The Pavement - 8.Of Crime And Passion - 9.Friends Of Mine
CD2: 1.The Seventh Stranger - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Planet Earth - 5.My Own Way - 6.Careless Memories - 7.Rio - 8.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au8/9)
Notes: After the December 23rd concert in London (the fifth night at Wembley), Duran Duran had a little holiday with their families, then leaved Europe to join Japan; the guys spent the 1984 January month playing five shows there; this Osaka concert is the fourth of them. The full recording is here; the show is good, and is recorded in a good audience quality. My favourites moments in this bootleg are "New Moon On Monday", "Union Of The Snake", "My Own Way" and the instrumental ending of "The Chauffeur", that is not perfect, but give me all the vibrations of the live music.

RENO 84
1984, February 04th, Lawlor Arena, Reno NV, USA

CD1: 1.Intro/Tiger Tiger - 2.Is There Something I Should Know? - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.The Reflex - 5.New Moon On Monday - 6.New Religion - 7.Cracks In The Pavement - 8.Of Crime And Passion - 9.Friends Of Mine - 10.The Seventh Stranger
CD2: 1.The Chauffeur - 2.Save A Prayer - 3.Union Of The Snake - 4.Planet Earth - 5.My Own Way - 6.Careless Memories - 7.Rio

Audio Quality: GOOD AUDIENCE (au8)
Notes: Duran Duran in Nevada! This is a rare recording of the show that the band played in Reno, during the glory days. I list here three good reasons to own this bootleg. The first is that the USA 84 recordings are very hard to find; the second is that the setlist of the Reno show is slightly different from the usual one, featuring "Union Of The Snake" after "Save a Prayer", during the last part of the concert; the third is the good audience quality. "Girls On Film" is missing from the cd tracklist, but I believe that the guys played that song as the second encore. There are gaps in between tracks, and "The Seventh Stranger" is recorded twice, but believe me, these are really minor problems in a great cd!

PITTSBURGH 84
1984, February 28th, Civic Arena, Pittsburgh PA, USA

CD1: 1.Tiger Tiger/Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.The Reflex - 4.New Moon On Monday - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.New Religion - 7.Cracks In The Pavement - 8.Of Crime And Passion - 9.Friends Of Mine
CD2: 1.The Seventh Stranger - 2. The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Planet Earth - 5.My Own Way - 6.Careless Memories - 7.Rio - 8. Girls On Film

Audio Quality: FAIRLY GOOD AUDIENCE (au7/8)
Notes: Another rare recording from the "very hard to find" USA 84 tour. This is the only show that they played in Pennsylvania during the Sing Blue Silver World tour. The setlist is complete, and is identical to the one performed during every USA 84 show (except of Reno, where "Union Of The Snake" was played after "Save A Prayer") and to the five Wembley UK 83 concerts; so, no strange things are here. "Rio" and "Girls On Film" are the highlights of this bootleg. The audio quality is a fairly good audience.

PORTLAND 84
1984, March 11th, Civic Center, Portland Maine, USA

CD1:
1.Intro/Tiger Tiger - 2.Is There Something I Should Know? - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.The Reflex - 5.New Moon On Monday - 6.Union Of The Snake - 7.New Religion - 8.Cracks In The Pavement - 9.Of Crime And Passion - 10.Friends Of Mine
CD2: 1.The Chauffeur - 2.Save A Prayer - 3.Planet Earth - 4.My Own Way - 5.Careless Memories - 6.Rio - 7.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: FAIRLY GOOD AUDIENCE (au7/8)
Notes: Another recording of the USA 84 tour; this bootleg was unavailable for a long time, and started "traveling around the world" from trader to trader since 2002, eighteen years after the show! The recording is fairly good; "The Chauffeur" is missing from the tracklist of the cd, but was in the setlist that night.

MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 84
1984, March 21st, Madison Square Garden, New York NY, USA

CD1:
1.Intro/Tiger Tiger - 2.Is There Something I Should Know? - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.The Reflex - 5.New Moon On Monday - 6.Union Of The Snake - 7.New Religion - 8.Cracks In The Pavement - 9.Of Crime And Passion - 10.Friends Of Mine - 11.The Seventh Stranger
CD2: 1.The Chauffeur - 2.Save A Prayer - 3.Planet Earth - 4.My Own Way - 5.Careless Memories - 6.Rio - 7.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb9/10)
Notes: This is the COMPLETE radio broadcast of the show the guys played in New York. There are several copies of this boot floating around (and in my collection): a picture disc called "Live at Madison", which has three tracks missing, that is to say "The Seventh Stranger", "The Chauffeur" and "Save A Prayer". There are also various CD-r including the same songs of the picture boot, another picture disc called "Videochristmas" containing just 8 tracks, which is mislabelled and dated March 27th (the show was actually aired on March 21st). Here I have decided to list just the complete 2-cd set recording of the original radio broadcast. The show was recorded during the golden years of Duran Duran history, and is a good alternative to the Arena album. You can hear the whole show, comprehensive of all the songs which are not in the official album and in the three official videos of that era ("Arena", "As The Lights Go Down" and "Sing Blue Silver"). Nile Rodgers and Tony Thompson joined Duran Duran on stage for a very long performance of "Gils On Film" (more than 12 minutes!). This is a great bootleg: if you don't have the Madison show, it's time to get it!

OAKLAND 84
1984, April 15th, The Coliseum, Oakland CA, USA

CD1:
1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.The Reflex - 4.New Moon On Monday - 5.Union Of The Snake - 6.New Religion - 7.The Seventh Stranger - 8.The Chauffeur - 9.Save A Prayer - 10.Planet Earth
CD2: 1.Careless Memories - 2.Rio - (3.Night Boat) - (4.Friends Of Mine) - (5.Make Me Smile) - 6.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This bootleg comes from a double cd set released in Italy in 1994, called "Arena II". It's the oldest double cd bootleg of Duran Duran. This performance is featured in many bootlegs of the "Tiger" era ("Two For The Show", "Arena Tour", "Duran Durance", "Burning Bright", "Save A Prayer"), and I think that the majority of the material the guys put toghether for the "Arena" official album is taken off this show. The setlist unfortunately is not complete, missing "Of Crime And Passion", "My Own Way" and the performance of "Friends Of Mine" they really played tonight in Oakland; anyway, three bonus tracks recorded at Hammersmith Odeon back in 82 are included here (cd2, tracks 3-4-5). These tracks are "Night Boat", "Friends Of Mine" and "Make Me Smile" (the same performance featured as "The Reflex" b-side). If you are looking for a "Sing Blue Silver" excellent bootleg, I think this is your right choice.

SAN DIEGO 84
1984, April 16th, Sports Arena, San Diego CA, USA

CD1:
1.Intro/Tiger Tiger - 2.Is There Something I Should Know? - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.The Reflex - 5.New Moon On Monday - 6.Union Of The Snake - 7.New Religion - 8.Cracks In The Pavement - 9.Of Crime And Passion - 10.Friends Of Mine CD2: 1.The Seventh Stranger - 2.The Chauffeur - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.Planet Earth - 5.My Own Way - 6.Careless Memories - 7.Rio - 8.Girls On Film

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au8/9)
Notes: This is a good "Sing Blue Silver Tour" bootleg, in very good audience quality, and not a copy of the "Duranoid" vinyl bootleg. Collectors know that the 84 American shows are very hard to find, so you can be very excited finding this rare CD. The problem is that a friend of mine, who's very expert in Duran Duran live bootlegs, supposes this is the same recording of the "Osaka 84" CD, without the spoken parts and I think we can believe him. Anyway, this is a great bootleg, so if you don't have the "Osaka 84" recording, you need this CD in your collection.

LIVE AID EXPERIENCE
1985, July 13th, JFK Stadium, Philadelphia PE, USA

1.A View To A Kill - 2.Union Of The Snake - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.The Reflex
BONUS TRACKS: 5.Do They Know It's Christmas? - 6.Do They Know It's Christmas? (12" version)

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: Actually, this is not a real "Sing Blue Silver" show, but i decided to list this bootleg in this session because this is the last live performance played by all the original five members (before the reunion!), and the last tour they played together was the '84 US tour. The Live AID show features four song; it's one of the worst performance of the band. At the time, Simon, Nick and Roger were in Paris, recording the Arcadia album. John and Andy were touring the US to promote the Power Station release. So, even if they had one song (A View To A Kill) at the top of the charts, they were involved in other projects. The band reunites just two days before the show, and two days are not enough to put together a good show... At the end of "A View To A Kill", there is the most famous Simon's bump. As Bonus tracks, you will find on this cd two versions of "Do They Know It's Christmas?", the BAND AID song written by Bob Geldof. The 12" version has a long instrumental bridge, where all the singers say something; you can hear Simon saying: "Hello, I'm Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran". These two Bonus Tracks are taken off an excellent vinyl copy of the Band AID 12" single. The sound is excellent.
